Water Cremation returns the human body back to the fundamental building blocks of life through a process called alkaline hydrolysis. The body is placed in a clean stainless-steel vessel and mixed with a water-based alkaline solution which is heated and pressurized for an average of 16 hours. Once the cremation is complete there are two portions remaining, the liquid portion and the inorganic bone minerals. These two portions are sterile, nonhazardous and contain no RNA or DNA. Once the cremation is complete there are no chemicals left over and it is completely nonhazardous.

Water cremation and fire cremation both give remains or “ashes” back to the family. The gentler water cremation gives back an average of 20% more remains. The fire cremation produces remains that resemble cornmeal and are darker in texture whereas water cremation resembles powdered sugar, it is finer and lighter in color.
